One of the most appealing parts of a kitchen is the island. You’ll want to look at these unique kitchen islands before jumping into your renovation. Check them out to inspire your designer or yourself before your final construction.

Below you’ll find non-traditional kitchen island designs by professional decorators/architects.

1. A Bench Island that Seats Eight

This unique kitchen island is ideal for a kitchen with limited space, by combining floor area to accommodate both an island and a place to sit saves on space and gives you a two-for-one with one giant piece. The design is by Delicious Kitchens & Interiors includes a booth, a table, counter space, and high counter space with stools. Check out this unique design here.

2. A Unique Kitchen Island with a Built-in Table

This particular design fits nicely into a reasonably narrow kitchen. The kitchen table is built-in as part of the island, yet it’s distinctly separate due to the round table molded as part of the actual island portion. There’s enough seating for four people, and the chairs are relatively large and comfortable. Take a look at the finished product by Wooddale Builders.

3. An Extreme Contemporary Kitchen Island

This one is different! If you have a thing for everything contemporary and white kitchens, you’re going to go nuts for this design by Meg Matthew’s Kitchen. The island is explicitly designed to fit with the clean, simple lines of the space itself. If you’re a minimalist, who appreciates a touch of quirkiness, you have to check it out.

4. A Double Island for Larger Kitchens

This particular kitchen island by Peg Berens Interior Design includes two large kitchen islands, each serving a unique purpose. One accommodates seating, and the other hosts a sink and serves as a prep counter. There’s a ton of drawer and cupboard storage in each, and of course, you get double the counter space with two islands.

Even less traditional, how about no upper cabinets?
