Cheerful bright colors create a fun, happy, and inviting feeling. Choose rainbow colors to achieve a positive mood.
Rainbow-colored area rugs come in various types and styles, such as stripes, blended color schemes, geometric blends, etc.
The question becomes how to incorporate color into your space without turning the room into a circus. With any main colorful household piece, moderation is key. Or, the reverse can be true … go overboard.
Pricing often depends upon quality and size. Polypropylene rugs are popular as durable carpets for reasonably high-traffic areas or a child’s room. However, they tend to be higher in price.
If bright-colored rainbow shades are too much for you, try a rug with multiple colors with slightly darker shades. You’ll still benefit from color, but this way, you can capitalize on the geometric design without overly bright hues consuming your room.
Try them in a contemporary space or include them in a comfy cozy cottage decor scheme. Geometric shapes also go well in a room featuring modern linear pieces. Color choice softens the starkness.
The reverse is also true: Bright geometric colors are ideal for a traditionally decorated space as they add a contemporary touch.

Barbara, I’m not usually big on rainbow-colored things, but I LOVE the rainbow shag rug you featured at the top of this article. It’s so bright and lively, it would make any room cheery! I have a niece whose favorite color is “rainbow” and I bet she’d love to have this in her room.
Margaret, thank you; the entire inspiration from this collection came from that rug! I loved it too, and had to feature it
What beautifully colorful rugs! I am not sure I am quite brave enough to use them in my main rooms, but they would truly be beautiful in a media or kids room!
Cynthia, I’ve always been impressed over the years when I’ve walked into a home that was able to successfully use bright colors in their main area – although, there haven’t been too many!
Ooo, you got me with these rainbow rugs. How much fun to use something so bright and colorful to accent a room decor. I’m getting ideas already!
Susan, decorating with color certainly takes some skill doesn’t it! Adding just one bright piece is a good way to start 🙂
A rainbow rug would have been perfect for my daughter’s bedroom when she was small. She’s been an artist since she was barely old enough to hold a crayon and colors are her ‘thing’. 🙂
Pat, someone after my own heart, your daughter loving colors 🙂 – I love them too, and try to add a little to life when possible
